Welcome to the National Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islander Research in Education (CARE)

The National Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islander Research in Education (CARE) aims to increase awareness about the needs and challenges facing Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) students in U.S. higher education. We conduct applied research on the demography of AAPI students, their educational trajectory, and their barriers to college access and success.

Research

We conduct applied research to overcome the extent to which AAPI students are misunderstood, misrepresented, or overlooked in research, policy debates, and in the development of campus services and programs.

Informing Education Policy

A central goal of CARE is to generate awareness of the issues surrounding AAPI access and participation in education in order to inform education policy. The work begins with the premise that good policy decisions should be informed by good data and informed research. Policy decisions that include AAPIs tend to lack data and use deficient analytical and conceptual frameworks to address the needs and issues of the population. CARE engages a policy audience through research and collaborative efforts with institutions, foundations, community-based programs, and government agencies.
